          Lawrence Thompson spent 33 years as boys basketball coach at Lockport, including the past 16 as its head coach.

          That’s a long time at the same place.

          If Thompson had his way, however, he’d spend a few more years guiding the Porters.

          That doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, however.

          Thompson agreed four years ago to retire as dean of students at Lockport after the 2014-15 school year.

          Though, during his annual performance evaluations the past four years with superiors, he made it clear he would like to remain as head coach after retiring.

          “They didn’t say, ‘no’ and they didn’t say, ‘yes,’ ” said Thompson of his annual request.
