The Georgian soprano Iano Tamar graduated in singing, piano and musicology at the Tbilisi Conservatory. After winning a scholarship at the Vinas competition in Barcelona, she completed her vocal training at the Accademia d’Arte Lirica in Osimo under the guidance of the maestros Alberto Zedda, Mario Melani and Sergio Segalini.
In 1992 she made her debut at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro in the title role of Semiramide conducted by Maestro Zedda and directed by Hugo De Ana. The success of this production allowed her to work at great international opera companies, such as
La Scala in which she made her debut as Alice Ford in the famous production of Verdi’s Falstaff by Strehler under the musical direction of maestro Riccardo Muti, Lina in Verdi’s Stiffelio directed by Maestro Gianandrea Gavazzeni and Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s masterpiece always conducted by maestro Riccardo Muti, Covent Garden with the Marchesa del Poggio in „Un giorno di reggino
