After more than 20 years as an ETH Professor, he is now retiring.
Whether it’s for the Gotthard rail tunnel and its transport infrastructure, the unexpected depths of Zurich’s central station, the inner workings of Japanese gardens or a disused railway corridor running right through Singapore: the points recorded by a 3D laser scanner merge again and again into precise, digital landscapes whose transparent aesthetics have something mystical about them.
For more than 15 years, ETH Professor Christophe Girot’s three-dimensional point cloud models have been shaping landscape architecture.
He has taught an entire generation of architects to think and design on a large scale. The Frenchman, who has held the Professorship of Landscape Architecture at ETH Zurich since 2001, will retire at the beginning of February 2023.
